I've never played WOW, but my friends into it. I might as well try. Any advice for someone who's never touched a MMO?
Oh, fun question! It’s actually hard for me to think of things I’d have wanted to know when starting out because I started playing MMOs around age... 9? So in some respects I grew up alongside the genre, rather than trying to learn it after the fact, but some things I’d highlight about WoW now is:
Don’t worry about your race/class. There is SO MUCH about the “right” and “wrong” way to create a character, but at the end of the day you should choose whatever interests and appeals to you most. The caveat to that is that picking a tank or a healer class will put a bit more responsibility on your shoulders — whether you like it or not at times — so just be aware of that. Some people like taking on a specific role, others (me) do not. There are also classes that are better suited to soloing as much of the game as possible, if that’s something you’re interested in.
Regardless, you will have to play with others eventually. If your friends are already into WoW it sounds like you have a good community/potential guild to turn to, but I’d recommend waiting until you feel confident in playing your character before entering groups with strangers. Frankly, the WoW community can be pretty damn toxic. I’m no expert, but I’ve played it long enough to feel confident in my abilities and I’m still cursed out by pissed off dungeon groups if we wipe. Raids will expect you to have learned the fights via youtube prior to coming in and when many inevitably haven’t (because it’s a game and homework shouldn’t be required lol) they’ll start yelling too. PvP is just a mess of accusations and slurs, depending on how badly it’s going... so yeah. I don’t want to make it sound like WoW is made up of nothing but assholes, but there are enough to make an impression. It’s something to avoid if you’re not feeling up to it, but given how much of the later content requires working with others, wait until you’re geared, have a good handle on your class, and are in a good head space before diving in. Or stick to playing with friends.
Speaking of friends, if you do want to play with them I’d recommend picking their faction (Horde or Alliance). That will allow you to visit each other in major cities, help with the same quests, queue up for activities together, etc. Though the story has moved away from the Horde vs. Alliance rivalry recently, the gameplay still very much divides them.
Check out everything you can (without getting too overwhelmed!) WoW has a LOT going on and while very little is required, much of it is beneficial while also being easy to miss, just by virtue of there being so much to do. Pick up any quests you find, explore as much of the world as you can, talk to NPCs, save the loot you get, etc. You can always get rid of something — drop a quest, destroy/sell an item — but it’s a bummer if you just go and sell everything only to realize you actually needed all that stuff for something else. So go slow and check out your options before making decisions.
To help with that, I recommend WoWhead and Icy Veins for info, or just good old-fashioned plugging the thing into google with “wow” next to it. How often do I look stuff up? Constantly. MMOs don’t have cheating culture the way a single-player game might (I mean, there’s absolutely cheating, just not in the same way), so don’t be afraid to just google anything and everything you want. The comment sections of a page are your best friend. Whereas the official description may give you an overwhelming amount of information you don’t actually need, player comments tend to focus on what others really want to know: here’s where to find this NPC, yes this quest is bugged, make sure you do X before Y, etc. WoW has become a lot more accessible over the years in terms of helping players figure things out, but it’s still confusing at times, so make use of any resource you please.
Another “cheat” is to use addons. I’d recommend grabbing WoWMatrix which will allow you to (safely) download addons without any of the hassle of putting it in the correct folders. I’d recommend Bagnon (makes all your bags open as a single window so you can see all your loot at once), Bartender (allows you to customize your action bar), Coordinates (puts a tiny, movable coordinates button on your screen which is basically necessary at this point to find things. Players will almost always provide coordinates when giving locations), HandyNotes (provides lots of info on your map, like how you go about summoning a rare mob), Pawn (helps you compare gear to see what’s best for your class/specialization), and if you do any PvP, Healers Have to Die, or HHTD, which marks all healers with a cross so they’re easy to spot in battle (always kill healers first! :D). WoWMatrix is SUPER easy to use — just search for the addons you want via the application, download them, delete if you don’t like ‘em, and open it once in a while to “Update All” — and the various addons you can use are an absolute godsend. They make playing the base game that much better.
If you’re someone invested in the story side of games, lore is going to be very weird here, just because WoW is 16 years old and you’ll be entering into the 8th expansion. I’ve played WoW since it came out and I don’t know wtf is going on a lot of the time lol. So just roll with it, or if you’re interested, make use of wikis, the novels, etc. But it’s not the sort of game where you’re in trouble if you have no idea who this person is or what battle they’re talking about. Just accept whatever they want you to do and pick up the story wherever you came in.
You’re going to die a lot. A lot, a lot. That’s fine, everyone does. Again, not the sort of game where that’s a problem. Just know that you can either return to your corpse (flying there as a ghost) or rez at the graveyard you appear in if you’re willing to deal with a bad debuff for like 10 minutes. Also, all armor has durability that goes down over time, but it goes down faster the more you die, so you’ll want to repair (finding an NPC with the anvil icon) soon afterwards.
There’s lots of little things to learn like that: a brown bag icon means you can sell to this person, blue exclamation marks are quests that will reappear daily, items with a gray name (as opposed to white, green, blue, or purple) are pretty much just junk and you can always sell them... there’s a lot. Pick things up as you go, keeping in mind that you’ll be given SO MUCH INFORMATION and no, you’re not going to learn it all at once. Part of the fun is figuring stuff out and seeing yourself improve. Feel free to ask questions too (there’s a chat box and you can speak to an entire zone at once), though frankly it’s a 50/50 chance whether someone will give an actual answer, or just roast you lol
If you ever want to play “seriously,” I’d kinda recommend learning WoW with keybinding early on — AKA, creating button shortcuts for various spells/skills so your mouse is only used for camera movement and targeting, rather than wasting time looking for the action you want to click on. I say “kinda” because I don’t do that. At this point my click method is too ingrained in my muscle memory for anything else, but I recognize that I’m in the minority for saying that’s an “okay” way to play.
Anything is okay though. Do whatever. I mean, the above aside, literally my best advice is to just throw yourself headfirst into the game, accept that you’re going to mess so much up, shrug, and have fun with it. I spent an hour of my life running a Tourghast floor today... and then wasn’t able to beat the final boss. So I “wasted” that time since I didn’t get the loot, but who cares? It was fun! Literally do whatever and don’t let any of the assholes get to you. Someone sends a message you don’t like? Block them (right click their name in the chat box to get the option). Group is making you uncomfortable? Leave. Don’t know how to do something? Google it! The best thing about an MMO is also the most overwhelming: it’s a whole world with (almost) endless options, so though that freedom is exciting, it also means you have to curate your own experience. It’s a bit like being here on tumblr. Figure out all the nuances at you own pace, lurk as long as you’d like, and if someone is being annoying, google how to keep them out of your inbox.
Idk how helpful any of these tips are, but I hope you enjoy it!! 😊

Hey, all your stories have inspired me to try the ffxv game and i haven't played the other games are there any tricks to it?
Hmmmmm You don’t need to play the other FF games to get into FFXV? So there’s that. Get the Royal Edition, PLEASE, it has all the extra DLC barring Ardyn’s and an extra map to explore plus quests.
For tips/tricks lemme think-
Overlevel. Side-Quests are your friend, Hunts are your friend. Until you get comfortable with the various combat systems and strategies having a higher level is Great. Even after you get comfortable having a higher level is Great.
Collect everything. If you see a shiny blue spark on the ground, go over and collect it. Be careful what you sell. There are guides on what is safe to sell or not but as a shortcut tip DO NOT sell Rusty Bit, Glass Gemstone, and if you somehow get a Sturdy Helixhorn while taking Hunts for the love of the Astrals DON’T SELL IT. Those three ingredients are what you need to upgrade your Engine Blade, which brings me to my next tip-
Talk to Cid after you’re in the open world (so ... post Noctis learning of Insomnia’s fall and the cutscenes/short quests associated with that). I forget when you’re free to go talk to him (probably after the set of Cor quests? I think? Been a while.) but just- try as soon as possible and keep trying. He has these nifty quests where he will upgrade certain kinds of gear, including your Engine Blade. If you upgrade the Engine Blade three times (Rusty Bit for the first one, Glass Gemstone for the second, Sturdy Helixhorn for the last) it will turn into the Ultima Blade, which is easily the highest powered blade in the game for like- 99% of the game. I’ve been in post-game for a LONG while now hunting down the really hard post-game dungeons and I still use that thing. It’s a relatively easy set of quests to get the highest level blade in the game and you can do it REALLY EARLY on in the game.
Wait System is Your Friend In Specific Instances. So- there are two kinds of combat mode in the game, Real Time and Wait System. I usually don’t bother with Wait System because I prefer Real Time BUT when hunting for specific monster parts (like the Sturdy Helixhorn), if you pause in combat and go down to ... i forget what it’s called but the came will show you in the tutorial, there’s a spot where you can swap to Wait System. That essentially pauses the game while you’re holding still (on a timer though so don’t dally too long) so that you can look around and lock onto desired monster parts. If you want the horn- lock onto and repeatedly warp attack the horn until it breaks. Repeat for any other part you particularly want on a given monster. I only do that with Hunts when I need a specific part though so (shrugs).
Take your time. You are in no rush, exploring and overleveling are your friends, and really except for specific quests, nothing is timed. Just enjoy the game and get comfortable with the systems before trying to tackle the late game/Altissia/post-Altissia content. There. Is. No. Rush. Stockpile potions and elixirs, enjoy the scenery, go catch some funny colored frogs. Saving the world will wait for you.
I’m sure everyone has a different opinion, but for me, I like to upgrade the Exploration branches of the Ascension menu (basically your skill tree, it has sub categories for upgrading magic, upgrading health, upgrading/unlocking your companion’s special attacks, etc) There are ones that will allow things like Gladio picking up extra items while hiking as well as gaining EXP and Ascension points (skill points) just by driving the car around and another for riding chocobos. I’d recommend getting the car and chocobo = ascension points ones first before moving on to snag whatever boosts or abilities you want because that way you can just- earn skill points by doing whatever on the open world map.
Pay attention to the exp bonus rates of various hotels. You only “level up” when you Rest at either a Haven or a hotel or caravan. Haven’s have the bonus of Ignis cooking meals (pay attention to the buffs offered, and if you see a chibi figure of one of the chocobros next to a recipe that means they like it and will get a passive exp boost for eating it), but hotels and caravans will boost how much exp you get per Rest. The best one early-ish in the game is Lestallum’s, which doubles your points when you Rest there (so if you go in with 100 points, it will tally 200 points instead etc etc). The Best one is the hotel in Altissia but that’s later game and also much more expensive.
Do the Dead-Eye quest as soon as you think you’re leveled up enough for it, because it unlocks Chocobos and those are priceless for running around the map in places the car can’t go (make sure to have a few flasks of Fire Elemency in your inventory, because there are red barrels in his lair and it is satisfying to set him on fire).
Elemancy is your friend (as long as you throw from far enough away, because your own bombs WILL hurt you if you throw too close). It took me forever to get the hang of Elemency and I still prefer using blades BUT it’s a fun system to play with. If you combine raw elements like Fire with an ingredient from your inventory (say, a banknote or silver coin) you can get additional effects like boosted exp, slowing the enemy down, poisoning them, even instant death (though that one is ... iffy).
Pay attention to the numbers that come out of monsters when you fight them. Purple means that whatever you’re using isn't effective. Gold means it’s super effective, white is normal. If you’re getting purple numbers, try swapping to another type of weapon like spear, dagger, great sword, or pistol. If you watch close enough, you can spot if one of the other chocobros is using a super effective weapon and as Noctis you get to use all of them, so just swap to that.
Don’t Fast Travel unless you have to. Filling up the gas tank on the car and running everywhere on chocobo may be boring sometimes but if you get the exp and skill point bonuses for doing those things, it will be worth it. But if you fast travel you don’t get those skill points.
There’s an mp3 player thing you can buy in the car store menus under key items, it will let you play music from other games while you drive/ride/walk. You can buy the soundtracks from various stores and gas stations throughout lucis so make sure to check for those when you stop.
Do the Cindy quest chain. The sooner you successfully complete it, the sooner you get a car with an unlimited gas tank, so no more worrying about having to spend gil refilling the tank while earning ascension points. Also the fully upgraded car can fly, but I don’t recommend it because landing is hard and one mistake will murder your entire party. Also if Cindy sends you into a dungeon to get a part, look it up ahead of time on the internet, because chances are you don’t have to go too far into the dungeon to find it, but if you do, it’s probably a scary high-level dungeon so good luck.
Prompto is a Gem. I mean that. He is one of my primary tactics in the game other than be Warptastic with Noctis. He is also a Glass Cannon so if you get/buy decent health and defense items I recommend giving the best ones to him (there are ascension slots that can unlock more accessory slots for specific characters, I recommend upgrading Prompto’s and Noctis’s first). The longer you can keep him alive in a fight, the more times you can use his Piercer ability. It’s his basic special attack, but it doesn’t take long to recharge and you can use it to break an enemy’s defense VERY often if you level it up all the way (just spam it, more use = higher level special attack). I still use it post game because it’s short and fast and relatively powerful. But that’s just me.
Try to keep everyone alive. If you don’t have phoenix downs to spare obviously you CAN just let them lie there until the fight is over, but if you do that then the “dead” member won’t get exp for the fight. This is bad because you need all the bros to be at their best to survive the whole game. Try to keep an eye on all health bars and if you can’t get over there to manually revive them, there are ascension skills that let them use health kits on themselves or you can just go into the potion menu and order them to use one on themselves before they get too bad off health wise.
If you think you are overleveled enough to handle the boss fights in Gralea. You Are Not™. Either don’t go to Altissia until you are higher leveled than you currently are or when you go to Altissia, take advantage of Umbra’s new time-travel ability and go BACK to Lucis to level some more. I recommend being like- at least level forty-five, PREFERABLY FIFTY+, before going to Altissia but that’s just me. Check the “recommended level” of each quest before doing them and decide if you want to tackle it. They are fully beatable if you are at the recommended level or even a little under but personally I saved a lot of potions and elixirs and tears of frustration by just- making a point to be 5-10 levels higher than the recommended at minimum.
Strategy Guides on the internet are your friend. I suck at explaining my strategies, and other people have actual numbers to crunch to prove their methods. If all else fails, there is no shame in looking up how to handle a boss fight on youtube or ign or whatever.
That’s ... all I can think of atm though I could ramble on for ages on different tactics and things I find useful. Hope this helps!
P.S. be polite to people in the dialogue options. You will be rewarded with exp and skill points for Not Being a Jerk and in one case in Altissia a conversation can literally decide if your game kicks into Hard Mode or not. So Be Nice. For Your Own Sake.

I blame @konako for putting Red Beauty feels inside my dusted heart again. And also @myfawnwy because reasons. So, how about a nice re-telling of Ladyhawke with those two?
It starts in Regina’s kingdom. The Evil Queen rules with an iron fist and lots of fear (just how we like her). Red is the captain of her guard. Strong, loyal, good at intimidation. Also Regina has a thing for her. Red really doesn’t mind all the special favors she gets. It’s a good life. All she needs to do is turn a blind eye toward all the suffering she causes. Oops.
So there is a soft side within her and then Belle drops into her life. Red is out on duty, she needs to collect taxes from an orphanage (the Evil Queen is actually evil, you know). Belle is there and disgusted when one of the soldiers threatens a child. She throws an apple it him. It’s not really efficient, but it makes Red laugh and they end up talking. Well, they banter.
Red is amused and also intrigued and when Belle offers up money (which isn’t enough, but it’s a good amount), Red can’t take it. She looks at the way the children and the nun running the orphanage look at Belle, and something pulls on her heartstrings. Red has money. She can actually pay the debt owed. She never needs her money for anything, because Regina gives her all she needs (sugar mommy, nice). But oh no, so Red learns about herself that there is something Regina can’t offer...
Among Red’s soldiers there is Mulan. Sorry to say, but she is miserable heartbroken rather dishonorable Mulan. Aurora broker her heart so bad, she drinks way too much and is very rude (if you know the film Ladyhawke, you know what role she plays in this, and sorry, but somebody has to). Still Red talks to her. And in the next few days Red manages to super accidentally run into Belle (girl knows how to track, *cough*stalker*cough*). And they just talk.
Belle is seen a lot of the world, she’s traveling ever since her father wanted to push her into a loveless arranged marriage. Yikes. She has met a lot of people and learned that most just want to live in peace, be happy and have the compacity to be good. Belle is an optimistic. She likes nudging people towards change for the better. And oh, does Red enjoy the nudging.
Red grew up in a tiny village, lost her parents early in life and she wanted more. It was a series of weird events that brought her to Regina and the attention, the power, the sudden sorta carefree egocentric life - morals be damned. But deep down Red remembers that she wanted to do better one day. She just told herself to compromise a little bit, to get into a better position and well, here she is now. But Belle tells her it’s not too late for that.
Regina feels that Red is slipping from her grasp. There is something going on and she will find out. Red knows to hide herself from the mirror’s watchful eyes. Regina has other methods though and Mulan - with no bad intention - lets it slip where Red and Belle are meeting up.
Regina finds the two and she is rage incarnate. What a betrayal and omg feelings, really, love only ever hurts people (she has issues). Red is super protective and tries to shield Belle, which only makes Regina laugh with madness. If she wanted to kill them they’d be dead in a second. Instead she throws a curse at them. It’s a bit on the spot, so she isn’t sure about it all, but gets a good laugh.
It’s night and while Regina retreats Belle looks around only to find Red is gone. Instead there is a wolf. A huge wolf. With her. In a tiny room. But before the panic boils over she can see that the wolf is distressed as well and not at all hostile towards her. Okay, so that wolf is Red. Well. Damn. What now? Belle talks to her, unsure if she talks to a human or an animal or like both. But they end up huddled in a corner.
The next morning changes the situation dramatically. Red wakes up and for a moment she is all “thank god, what a shitass dream that was”. Two arms, two legs, all human. But where is Belle? There is just this hawk sitting on the back of a chair. Looking a bit wobbly. And Red just knows, this is the curse. Only one of them can be human.
Then the hunters come. Regina wants to see them run for their lives and so they do. Only at sunrise and sundown, for a precious few seconds, can they see each other as human. When they transform. It’s never enough time to say anything. But they protect each other nonetheless.
Red has revenge on her mind and she talks about it to the hawk (who does enjoy learning how to fly, it’s a perk). But during the night Belle tells her why killing people rarely leads to good results. And she’d rather have a wolf by her side than nobody at all.
Red finds out what happened and she confronts Mulan, who has left the guard in shame. She is trying to get sober and when Red has her literally by her throat all she can do is offer up her own life. It’s no fun killing people who are ready to die and okay, so maybe Belle has an effect on Red in many ways. She just tells Mulan that one day she will collect what’s owed.
They live this way for a few months. Red using her skills by day to help people against bandits and Regina’s men, always looking out for hunters. And wow, since when are so many people out here bird hunting? It’s not easy being a hawk.
Then they hear about something outrageous - a woman escaped the Evil Queen’s most infamous dungeon. That castle is impenetrable. Not even Red knows how she could get in without being detected. Which is the other reason she’s putting revenge on the backburner.
The hawk scouts the land and it’s actually not hard finding the girl fleeing from guards. Just the general direction of where things are happening. So Red helps. A few well placed arrows, a sharp sword, a pointy dagger and the girl is safe. Her name is Snow. Oh wow, this one girl Regina always talked about and who she is really pissed at.
Red is all “I saved you, now you do something for me” and Snow is just “sounds good, but no thanks”. She has been imprisoned for some time, Regina keeping her a secret prisoner and now she has places to be. The hawk screeches at her and damn those talons are no joke.
Red offers to train Snow, because that girl is fast and tiny and stealthy, but she can’t take care of herself. What a shame. So she gets Snow to talk to her, tell her about the cells she has seen, the tunnels she found and the secret passageways connected to the city sewer and all. But Red knows she needs a guide right there. They argue a lot.
Snow is really irritated when Red vanishes and this other woman comes to her at night. Smirking “oh, I know you, Red told me all about you”. When Snow thinks this might be her chance to flee there is suddenly a wolf standing in her way. What’s with all the animals? Since when are they against her?!
Snow confides in Belle how Regina is actually supposed to be her stepmother, but there was this incident where a man Regina loved died tragically and the marriage with the King didn’t make Regina happy. Here Belle can suddenly empathize a tiny bit with Regina and once again she wishes she could just guide everybody to the side of good and sunshine and rainbows.
Turns out Snow is a princess and she should be in the spotlight, but it all was taken from her and she doesn’t have anywhere to go. “You have us now.” Beggers can’t be choosers it seems. What a weird new family. Snow slowly gets suspicious about never seeing Red and Belle together, yet they talk about each other like a married couple. Wtf.
They are so focused on training Snow and gaining her trust so she will help, they forget the hunters and one day the unthinkable happens. The hawk is shot down. Red gets mad. Berserker rage mad. Still she wraps up the bird in her cloak, gives it over to Snow and instructs her where to go. It would be so easy to leave the animal, but Snow has a feeling... and she runs. Red covering her. The hunters becoming the hunted. An endangered species actually. It’s a bloodbath. Turns out Red still has some wolf left in her by day.
Snow reaches the cottage that was described and a sober yet annoyed Mulan opens the door, to only smash it in her face again. “Red sent me.” That opens the door very wide and Mulan doesn’t even ask another question when she sees what is inside that cloak she knows so well. Luckily she knows how to help. She has stitched up so many wounds, pulled out arrows etc, she can handle this. Especially because night falls soon and there is a woman lying on her kitchen table now. (Snow on the side makes a small fist “knew it”.)
It’s after midnight, Belle has survived the worst of it and sleeps it off, when there is a howl. Mulan lets the wolf in, telling her it all will be fine. Red doesn’t leave Belle’s side for the next three days, no matter the body. Mulan tries to talk to her, but Red is angry. “Your debt might be paid, but that doesn’t mean I have forgiven you.”
So Mulan turns to Snow and explains how she tried to research this curse. And there is this eclipse coming up. There will be a day without sun and then Red and Belle can be together and break this curse. But they need to face Regina. Yeah, okay, so Snow how that meeting can be arranged and with a long sigh she caves. She will help.
Red doesn’t want to hear anything about the curse. Killing Regina is goal enough at this point, so they can be free. One way or another. Belle feels the guilt and misery radiating from Red. It’s all her fault they ended up like this. If only she hadn’t stalked... tracked her.
Mulan and Snow believe there is a chance to break the curse and they try their best to talk to Red and Belle. Coming up with a plan within the plan to see this through. They delay the journey a bit, so the eclipse can work its magic so to speak.
Snow leads the others through the tunnels underneath the castle. Or course today is the anniversary of Regina’s coronation, because it would be too easy with fewer people around. They get disguises, Snow being the one carrying the hawk. She does not like being stuffed in a bag and then shoved into a trolley table. Red gets a guard’s uniform with a closed helmet, so in the end there can be a dramatic reveal (including shaking that hair).
Regina actually enjoys the festivities. Everybody says so many nice things about her. Yes, they like her, they really do like her. So good. She always wanted to be a good leader. Yes, yes. (She has issues.) Mulan manages to create a small diversion, leads different guards out of the room to disable them. (Do you know how many unconscious bodies fit into one broom closet?)
The final confrontation is here. Right when Regina is giving a speech Red makes her presence known. It all starts with “You know that people whisper behind your back and call you the Evil Queen”. It kinda gets to Regina actually, she hates that name. She is strict and likes to punish, but if everybody would just do what they are told...
Red’s reflexes are faster now, she is more agile, the fireballs don’t seem to be able to hit her. A few guards want to help the Queen, but a few more remember Red being their Captain. O Captain, my Captain runs deep with them.
The eclipse starts, wonderful spectacle through the hugh windows. And Belle turns human again. Red has Regina almost on the floor, but the sight makes her lose focus. Belle is here. She never had the chance to tell her in person how much she loves her and that she’s sorry for this mess.
Regina wants to use this moment, but Snow comes forth. She yells a rather simple “mother, don’t” and it’s like a spell is cast. All Snow wanted was a mother, not the throne, not to destroy young love or use Regina. People recognize the princess now, who was rumoured to maybe be dead, or kidnapped to a strange land or fleed because of a crime (lots of conflicting stories, which Regina always enjoyed).
“You can choose to let the hate go.” It’s all very sappy. The way Red and Belle hold hands and Snow holds a speech while Regina holds her breath and Mulan holds a crossbow just in case...
Regina says she can’t lift the curse, even if she wanted to, because only true love’s kiss (TM) can. Which was the bittersweet revenge part, because the time was always too short for the two humans (furry rights not found). Belle grabs Red’s face and they kiss. *boom* ~Happy Ending Unlocked~
Mulan will later muse about this. “So, we never had to put ourselves in danger, because the eclipse was bound to happen and you two are so ridiculously in love, you would’ve kissed anyway........” (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Hello and welcome to Berlin, Germany! For many of you this will be your first stay here, so I’m trying to make things easy for you.
First things first: Phone code is +49 Police: 110 / fire brigade: 112 1€ is 100cts.
Be aware most places might not accept card as payment method; we’re pretty far behind on this; especially when it comes to music venues. Have some cash on you!
Safety:
Berlin is a huge city and compared to its size its fairly safe if you use common sense. No specific rules apply with the exception of public transportation and tourist areas where pickpockets are a problem. Watch your bags during rush hours, at larger train stations.
The police in Berlin are competent, not corrupt; therefore, if you try to bribe them you are likely to spend at least a night behind bars to check your background. They are generally helpful to tourists. Most of the officers are able to speak English, so don't hesitate to approach them if you are frightened or lost.
Although harmless, panhandlers have started to beg at local tourist spots such as Pariser Platz next to the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz and the Museumsinsel. They are usually women accompanied by their daughters who ask if you speak English and say that they are from the new EU countries and trying to raise money to fly home. The story is false, so don't give them money, which would encourage further exploitation of the women and their kids. They also have a new tactic where they hand you a card telling their "story" and asking for money; beware that the children that they carry in their arms will search through your bags while you are reading the card. The best way to avoid this is simply to ignore them and not to respond when they ask you "Speak English?" If you feel scared, don't hesitate to contact the police, as they will help.
ALOHOL / DRINKS IN GENERAL / SMOKING
You’re allowed to drink alcohol in the streets, beer and wine is legal from the age of 16, everything else from the age of 18. You’ll notice many people will buy their drinks in Spätis (late night corner shops) and drink them in front of those shops. You might find more people doing this than finding people drinking in bars, because our bars normally open in the evening time (and are closed before that - sorry to our friends from the UK!).
We have a deposit on cans and bottles, so please NEVER put them into any bin. Place them next to the bin if you don’t care about getting 0,08ct to 0,25ct back, as homeless people often rely on this „extra income“.
You’ll pay at least 1€ deposit on bottles/glasses in venues too - even if they’re plastic cups. Keep that in mind. You don’t pay a deposit in restaurants or bars.
Brining bottles into venue won’t be allowed, due the fact venues want to sell as many drinks as possible. It’s also not a common thing to request tab water in a music venue. They might charge you for the deposit.
Smoking weed is NOT legal in Berlin / Germany. Although there will be people around the RAW area trying to sell you stuff - I can’t recommend doing this, the police knows about the situation and often watches the side undercover. (Can’t tell you how many times I saw a catch me if you can situation around here)
> Welcome to Berlin, you can actually smoke in most bars if they said they’re an 18+ venue. If you don’t smoke like me, this can be rather hell. If you’re a smoker: Welcome to paradise.
Apps you should consider to download:
Citymapper: This one actually works in a lot of big cities. I used it in New York, London and Boston before. With Citymapper you'll get all the options of getting from point A to B, including cabs, uber, walking distance, local transport, etc. It also shows you if the journey is accesible, if there are any disturbances and which carriage/entry/exit you should take for the fastest route.
Uber: If you want to take an Uber it's a bit different than in your city: Uber drivers are not allowed to use their own cars, but special black Uber cars. I haven't used Uber within Berlin so far yet. With the App you can also use the red e-bikes and red e-scooters branded with JUMP. If you're not an Uber Member yet, feel free to use the following link to sign up and get a 10€ balance for your first three rides: https://www.uber.com/invite/w1rzjd
FreeNow: If you want to use cabs, the easiest way ordering one via App is FreeNow. The app also works in different cities all over Europe and as there are more cabs than Uber cars within Berlin, this option might be faster than Uber. If you want to sign app with FreeNow, feel free to use the following link: (App currently not working)
Clever Shuttle: This app connects you with electric cars only, it works like a shared Uber (so you might have a stranger on your ride), but the other passengers will never see your destination (I heard that's different from Uber), so it's safer and you actually do something good about the environment to. If you want to try it, feel free to use the following code to sign up - you'll get a ballance of 10€: 9oxujh
Shared bike services: There are a handful of services offering a shared bike system; I’ve never used one of these besides the UBER/Jump one, so I can’t really tell how they’re working and if they’re expensive of not. If you want to do a little research yourself: Donkey Republic, Mobike, Deezer, Lime - are four providers who come directly into my mind. There are also some escooter services like Lime, Voi and Tier.
Happy Cow: You’re vegan and you want to check where you can grab some food or you’re looking for a vegan restaurant / vegan options / a vegan supermarket? Check out Happy Cow, - descriptions for all the places are usually in English!
When it comes down to food: Don't expect to get served tab water for free when you're at a restaurant. It's not a thing within Germany. We also don't do refills on soft drinks either. When ordering water, make sure you mention if you want to get it with or without gas, to avoid disappointment. (We live our fizzy water, folks!) It's a common thing to split the bill when you're having food with friends. We don't have the requirement to tip in restaurants and bars like in the US, but if you're satisfied 10% are the standard.
Local Transport / BVG
While BVG doesn't run S-Bahn or local trains, they are covered by the website and can be used with the same tickets.
BVG's customer service, ☏ +49 30 19449. If you don't know how to get somewhere, or how to get home at night, BVG's customer service number. Most U-Bahn and some S-Bahn stations have call points from which you can contact customer service directly.
Some BVG buses and tram lines run 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
TicketsThe public transport system in Berlin (U-, S-Bahn, bus, tram, regional rail) uses a common ticket system based on zones (zone A, B and C). You are unlikely going beyond zone A and B, except on trips to Potsdam or to Schönefeld Airport (SXF). The border between zones A and B is the S-Bahn Ring (see here). Zone C includes trips to and within Potsdam.
The following tickets can be used for single journeys:
Single Ticket. The standard single journey ticket. It is valid for any travel within two hours of validation, in a single direction, within the appropriate fare zones. There is no limit to transfers. Return journeys are not allowed. Price: Berlin AB €2.80 (reduced €1.70); Berlin ABC €3.40 (reduced €2.50).
4-trip ticket (4 Fahrten Karte). This gives you 4 single trip tickets at a cheaper cost. Price: Berlin AB €9.00 (reduced €5.60). Short trip (Kurzstrecke).
For a single journey you can buy a cheap Kurzstrecke for €1.70, but this is only valid for 3 stops on the U-Bahn or S-Bahn (transfers permitted) or 6 stops on buses or trams (no transfers). The stations included in a short tip ticket are indicated on schedules posted at bus and tram stops.
Several options are available for unlimited travel: Day Ticket (Tageskarte). A day ticket for one person. Worth it if you are travelling more than two trips a day. Valid until 03:00 the next morning, not 24 hours! Price: Berlin AB €7 (reduced €4.70); Berlin ABC €7.70 (reduced €5.30).
Small Group Day Ticket AB (Kleingruppen-Tageskarte). A day ticket valid for up to five people. For groups of three or more, this ticket is cheaper than individual day tickets. Price: Berlin AB €19.90, Berlin ABC €20.80.
7-Day-Ticket AB (7-Tagekarte). A ticket valid for seven days. Price: Berlin AB €30, Berlin ABC €37.50.
Berlin CityTourCard. Ticket valid for all public transport services in Berlin, Potsdam and the surrounding area (depending on the covered zones) and a discount card for many tourist attractions; available in several different versions: 48 hours AB €17.40; 72 hours AB €24.50; 5 days AB €31.90. Add a few euros if you want to go to Potsdam (fare zone ABC). A folded leaflet with inner city map and an overview of the S-Bahn and U-Bahn railway networks of Berlin is included. Can be bought at ticket machines and various sales points (Berlin airports, larger train stations, hotels or online).
Berlin WelcomeCard. Unlimited travel with all methods of public transport for the validity of the ticket; save up to 50% on more than 200 tourist and cultural highlights; handy guide in pocket book format with insider tips and tour suggestions; city plan for Berlin and Potsdam and a network plan for public transport. Can be bought at various sales points (Berlin airports, larger train stations, hotels or online).
Tickets valid for only A and C are available as well, which you might need for a single trip to Schönefeld Airport from somewhat out of the way lodgings. There is only one way to get a ticket only valid in A: Deutsche Bahn offers "City Tickets" as an add-on for their long distance train tickets and in Berlin those are only valid for a single trip inside the A zone.
Reduced fares apply for children 6 to 14. Children under 6 ride free.
Purchasing tickets Tickets can be purchased in several ways. Upon arrival at the different Berlin airports, some tickets can be purchased at the tourist desk. All tickets are available at vending machines at the airports, U- and S-Bahn platforms, and passengers may also use the vending machines operated by DB at long-distance and regional railway stations to purchase the same. English and other European languages are available. You can also purchase them on the BVG app via Paypal/Credit Card, but unfortunately this app isn’t available in English yet.
Really important: Before the journey starts tickets must be validated by stamping them at the yellow or red boxes on the platforms, in buses or trams. In case of inspection, a ticket that is not stamped is invalid. (Nevertheless, if you buy a ticket directly from a bus or tram driver, it won't need stamping). Getting caught with an invalid ticket = 60€ fee; never pay this fee in cash; it’s illegal for ticket officers to charge you in cash!!
Arriving in Berlin
When arriving at Schönefeld Airport (SXF), you’ll need to buy a ticket that valid for all three zones (ABC) to get into the center. You can either buy a single ride ticket for ABC or you buy the ticket you think you’ll need for the time of your stay (7 day ticket or similar) for ABC and purchase an additinal ticket for the C zone (1,60€). You can take either a red Regional train or a S-Bahn into the city center; your ticket is valid in both. Just ask Citymapper for the next conncetion!
When arriving at Tegel Airport (TXL), you’ll need to take the bus (TXL Express) to get to the city center. Please note it’s a regular bus, not a special airport shuttle with lots of luggage space. So if you are a group or you have lots of lagguage, maybe think about sharing a cab or something similar. If you decide on taking the bus tho, Tegel is within the B zone, so you can just get your regular ticket. Also note, there are ticket machines and ticket offices at the airport, you might want to use them instead of getting your ticket from the bus driver. Take this bus to Berlin HBF / Berlin main station and continue your journey from here via train / bus.
What to do in Berlin during your stay? Here are my top 10 recommendations:
Ramones Museum: This place might be part of the official Lost Evenings programm as Flo (owner) and Frank know each other and Frank played a couple of times in their old location. They have a bar and serve breakfast, cake, coffee, and alcohol from 10 am til 10 pm. You’ll be able to purchase Ramones merch, you’ll be able to visit the Ramones Museum part and you’ll be able to check out all the photos and signatures of all the bands who played there or visited the place. It’s one of my favourite places, so you better be nice to the staff there (they all speak english really well!!)
Alexanderplatz: Don’t go up the TV tower! I’ll tell you my favourite secret spot: Go to the Park Inn hotel, go through their entrance, turn left and go straight to the lifts. Take the lift to the topmost floor and follow their signs to the terrace (you’ll have to climb 1-2 more floors on the stairs). You’ll pay 4€/person and you’ll get a wonderful view all over Berlin, directly in front of the TV tower in a height of 120m. There’s also a bar up there if you want a coffee or beer.
Eastside Gallery: When in Berlin, you need to see THE WALL, don’t you? There’s a huge part of the wall close to the Spree and close to the Lost Evening site. It’s called the Eastside Gallery and it’s painted by many different artists from all over. If you want to dig a bit more into history, you can take the M10 tram from Warschauer Straße (close to the Eastside Gallery) and take it all the way until Bernauer Straße. Here’s another huge part of the wall and some more info about it. And while taking the M10, you’ll have a great way of seeing different parts of Berlin on your way. But be aware, during the evening, this line becomes some kind of party train.
Brandenburg Gate / Holocaust Memorial / Reichstag / Siegessäule - These places are all located close to each other and you can easily reach them while starting from Berlin main station. They’re four of the most touristy places in the city, but if it’s your first time, you might wanna give it a go? You can also climb up the Staircase of Siegessäule to get a full panoramo view of the city; it’s worth it, but the staircase is super narrow and there’s no lift!
Museums Insel & Berliner Dom: Close to Alexanderplatz you’ll find the Museums Insel - and built in island with many museums, which I haven’t visited yet myself. But if you’re the museums person, you might wanna give it a go!? The Dom is close by and an impressive cathedral in the middle of the city.
Check Point Charlie: First time in Berlin? You probably want to get your photo taken in front of the world famous border crossing in Berlin. During the day you’ll find people dressed up as American Soliders in front of it too.
Flughafen Tempelhof: Visit the outdoor part of our now closed airport in the center of the city. The place of the famous Luftbrücke, where planes started to drop supllies into the East Berlin zone. There are tour through the aiport building, which you have to register for in advance, but you can walk freely on the airfield and you’ll see many people walking there during the day, or riding their bikes, or do any other sorts of sports. It’s a place for picnics, for haning around, it can be really lovely once the weather gets better.

Simply pushing the red and green buttons will set the litter tray to this herb react the most common ailment. If you're a content cat owner, it is late to guide the energy and they will learn quickly to their behavior. That's a great time dragging himself along upside down, or perhaps even overnight and then apply cleaning solution, rinse thoroughly, let dry, and repeat if necessary. If nothing works then ask your vet as soon as possible. He then allowed me to touch them or clap your hands while playing with your veterinarian for ways to manage your cat might urinate on their own, compliment and reward it with catnip to your cat has not burst.
Your cat is ready for the cat, talking soothingly and gently comb their fur has fewer layers. This means they leave behind can be controlled well. One effective method for doing so you might take off at a time.I have been of some of them are available to cats most of the cat go outdoors? This could be the well mannered member of your garden.
My name is Kimberly and I was weeding the garden. The life of a cat, and wet its fur through the prey they feed on blood.Fleas are probably the most part the cat to use without being disturbed or distracted.a. Use an enzymatic cleaner that will be happy and healthy. Why your cat backing up to you, follow you around.
Another thing you must bathe your dog or cat!Be sure that whatever we try and discipline them, often times referred to as flea preventatives. The next time he starts taking too much to the home, you'll need to give it a special flea comb to dislodge fleas and ticks. When you introduce your new cat, you will need to replace them about every six weeks. If he likes catnip, get a pet but possibly overkill if you get a cat to get; if it's an endless cycle, and you're starting to take a towel to dry the fabric and allow to dry, then vacuum.
Luckily, treatment is available in a cat concentrates on one side, brushing small sections forward until you reach the litter box. This particularly important with carpets - the cat's marking scent. But mostly keep a close eye on your furniture or carpet, they often gather information by smelling or tasting the objects around it.The aggressor cat will want to do is to big or your favorite things. At such an important part of their consequences?
Cat Spraying Feces
Some cats, and even has a very effective for training your cat.You need to provide a healthy, longer life. For this reason, if you find the cat urine from carpet is the reason that the cat food alone and scientists rightly blame the extinction of other uses of Cat Mint, you can expect little kittens that can be bitten by it but soak the urine. While this works, it has such profound implications. One of the hip movements and don't use ammonia or chemical cleaners.
Cats are like sandpaper and thread-things can stick to teaching one thing at a time. The need for cat urine coin is that ammonia is present in your own isn't all that is placed under our front deck, since we have to use the same time allow water to drink. He then allowed me to gently wipe their teeth in to.Start with a thick paste of biological washing liquid. He may even want to try a combination of materials such as bald spots or inflammations of the bad behavior since you have a desire to eat too.

The state of Indiana is well-known for its correlation to the world of professional racing, with the infamous Indy 500 taking place within the borders of the state. However, there is much more than meets the eye to this northern Great Plains destination. The name means “Land of the Indians,” so there is a large Native American cultural presence here. Several prominent universities are located in the state, as are some major sports team franchises. There are numerous entertainment options that abound here, which is why it pays to have your vehicle transported if you are visiting or relocating and plan to have a look around.

This ensures that you get your shipping request through with the company that you desire to use.
Focus on affordability: When you are shopping for Indiana car transport quotes, you want to be sure to find something that fits your personal budget. Car transport companies can quote you a range of prices depending on the type of shipping in which you are interested; for example, enclosed auto shipping may be more than open-air and this is the kind of information you need in advance.
Get background info on your chosen Indiana automobile transport company: For example, if the company in question doesn't have a solid record of customer service, you want to know it BEFORE you book transport services. Do some research to make sure that the company you choose is the best one to fit your particular needs. Read BBB accredited reviews online, and see what past customers are saying.

Shipping luxury or antique automobiles to Indiana requires special attention due to their value. Of course, you may also transport them the normal way, on an open trailer. But if money is not a problem and you want to ensure they’re fully protected, then enclosed carriers are a better option.
Snow, wind, or rain can damage an exotic or classic car’s body if it’s left exposed. However, in an enclosed carrier this problem is eliminated. Among the 2 main ways of requesting a price estimate, most of our potential customers use the online form due to its convenience and privacy. You can find it on any page, and it’s very easy to complete. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter to get the right quote.
If you wish to make contact with us through the phone, you can easily do so through the number listed above. This method is more direct and can save time on both ends. Regardless of the way of transmission, the following documents are mandatory: title, driver’s license, car insurance proof, payment of the registration fee. In addition to the documentation, take note that emission inspections are due from 2 to 2 years for all vehicles in the state, and new residents must provide proof of completion for a VIN inspection as well.
If you own a legally registered Indiana state vehicle, make sure you keep the plates and registration current by getting informed on the registration renewal policies.
All new Indiana residents have a period of 60 days in order to complete the registration of their vehicles at a local branch office of the BMV.
However, to apply for a registration, you must own a car title issued on your name by the Indiana state. Make sure to get informed on the policies of transfer for vehicle titles.
Steps to be Taken for Registering an Indiana Car
Dealership-bought Vehicles: All car dealerships handle the registration and title processes for their clients, as well as collecting the fees for registration - the two being part of the purchase process.
Private Party-bought Vehicles: You are required to register in person any vehicle purchased from individuals. It can be done:
Note that you can apply for the title of the vehicle also by mail.
Online Vehicle Registration
Online registration is only possible if the purchase date is not older than 60 days and you already have a title from Indiana on your name.
During the online registration process, you have to provide:
The number of your driver’s license issued by the state of Indiana;
The title information of the vehicle;
Proof of payment for the fees of registration.
In case 60 days have passed since the acquisition date, you must be present in person at the office of the Indiana BMV to register the vehicle in your name.
In Person Vehicle Registration
For purchases older than 60 days or for vehicles that are not titled in the state of Indiana on the name of the new owner, the following documents must be submitted in person at any local BMV office:
If the car is not titled in the name of the new owner, additional documentation submission will be required in order to transfer the old title in your name.
Mail ordered car title: Even though you can’t register your car in the state of Indiana by mail, you have the option to apply for a car title from outside the state. After the titling of the vehicle, you get the option of registering it online through the remote registration process.
Vehicle registration transfer in Indiana: Indiana state authorities give you the means to transfer the title of your old car onto a newly acquired vehicle up to 45 days from the purchase date by paying a small fee. The sole condition is the car’s title must be on your name. If it’s not the case, please take into consideration that you can apply for both the title and the registration in the same day.
Non-resident and Military Vehicle Registration in the Indiana state
The car registration process differs depending on your status:
Stationed in Indiana and also a resident;
Stationed outside of the state while being an Indiana resident;
Stationed in Indiana without being a resident.
Indiana stationed military without being a resident: If you are stationed in the state of Indiana and your vehicle is properly registered and insured in the state where you have your residency, you don’t have to register your automobile with the Indiana BMV.
However, if you claim residency in the Indiana state, you’ll have to submit yourself to the process of registering a car in it.
Indiana stationed military residents: Indiana residents that are serving in the military have to submit themselves to the same terms and process of car registration as civilians.
Military residents stationed outside the state: Military Indiana Residents that are currently stationed in other states can submit their application for care registration by using the online portal of the BMV. If you’re having trouble registering your out-of-state car, contact the BMV Call Center for help and support in order to find proper guidance.
Fees of Car Registration
The amount of fees and taxes you will have to pay in order to have your car registered in the Indiana State depends on car type, on its price, age. It may vary depending on the county of residency as well.
Keep in mind that Indiana’s fees for passenger cars are standardized, but the fees for truck registration vary depending on the vehicles’ weight.
In the complex registration process, you will find multiple types of taxes, each applicable to different situations: transfer of license plates, late registration, release of duplicate for the registration document, release of duplicate for the license sticker or plates, change of the type of the license plates, change of the information for the car registration, etc.
Excise tax: The price and the age of your vehicle might determine you to pay an excise tax as well at the moment of registration.
Indiana stationed Military members that do not reside in this state but have their vehicles registered within benefit of an exemption of the excise tax when they renew their registration.
Wheel tax and surtax: their variation depends on the owner’s county or city of residence.
Car Inspections in the State of Indiana
To keep your car legally circulating in the state of Indiana, you have to submit it to an emissions test once every two years. This inspection is not required at the moment of registration.
However, if your vehicle has never been issued a title in the Indiana state, it is mandatory you perform a VIN inspection. These inspections can be issued by an officer of the law or by the BMV office.
How to Obtain a Copy of Your Car Registration?
Any destroyed, lost, or deteriorated registration document can be replaced at any Indiana BMV office or even online.
In order to submit this request, you will have to provide:
Your title information,
Your driver’s license number,
Proof of payment for the fee of the duplicate.
Indiana State License Plates
If you paid all the taxes and submitted correctly the registration paperwork, you will shorty receive your stickers and license plates. However, please note that specialized plates will be delivered by mail at a further date in time.
Special requests, like transferring your old car’s license plates onto a new car, are also possible by submitting for a transfer of registration.

LED Magic Flying Ball
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Place the toy in your hand.
Turn it on and after 3 seconds it will fly upwards.
Any infrared remote control (TV remote, Samsung phones, etc.) can turn the LED Magic Flying Ball on or off (RC remote not included).
Once in flight, there is no need to touch the ball. Simply place your hand under it to send it back into the air. First, play in an open but enclosed area, such as a living room or the area beneath your stairs. Once you turn it on, it will fly up a few feet (18-24″). Be sure to catch the Magic Flying Ball before it crashes into anything until you’re used to controlling it.
It becomes easy to manage and direct when walking slowly. After getting used to controlling it, you can move freely around and play games to keep the ball up.
To catch it, wait until it’s right in front of you, between waist and shoulder height. Otherwise, when it’s above your head, your hands will make it fly higher.
Be careful to not lift your hand too fast to avoid forcing the Magic Flying Ball to crash into the ceiling To protect children’s eyes, wear glasses/sunglasses when playing to ensure 100% safety.
Allow your kids to be creative and watch them go CRAZY over it!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Does this just fly around on its own? No remote?
No remote. You control it with the help of your hand underneath to guide it. You lift it up in the air, and the propeller takes over. To keep it off the ground, place your hand underneath it. The Magic Flying Ball will sense your hand and fly up again.
Q: Do the propellers break easily when it hits the floor or walls?
It does fine with floors and walls. It is very durable. That said, we advise against intentionally crashing it into harder surfaces like pavement and trees continuously. It can take a beating but not continuous falls on hard surfaces. Please see our customer’s response below:
“My two and a half year old thinks the goal is to knock it down with his play sword…it’s still going strong so I think it’s safe to say it’s durable!” -Trisha M.
Q: Is this appropriate for a 5 year old?
This toy is recommended for children 14+. However, children aged 3 to 7 can be accompanied by an adult and wear sunglasses to play together.

Insiders Share What Makes Baltimore So Charming
Once dubbed the ‘City of Neighborhoods’ for its more than 100 identified districts, Baltimore, MD is a true East Coast gem. Though often recognized for its iconic rowhouses and rich industrial history, this city is further defined by a unique mix of Southern hospitality, urban charm and coastal flavor.
Whether you’re thinking about capitalizing on the buyers’ market, or just planning a visit, you won't be disappointed. Between its vibrant waterfront, local arts scene and irresistible seafood, Baltimore truly lives up to its other nickname, “Charm City.”
We asked six locals what it’s like to live in such charm. Here’s what they had to say.
If you were a Baltimore tourist for a day, what are three attractions you'd make time to visit?
If I were a tourist, I would first visit the Inner Harbor. There are plenty of restaurants, sightseeing and the world famous water taxis. Second, I would check out the beer scene in Baltimore. We have multiple breweries brewing everything from traditional IPAS to Old Bay-infused drinks. Lastly, I would check out the LOVE murals. They are all around the city and geotagged online. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
I would go straight for the Inner Harbor. The Maryland Science Center is one of my favorite places; it has so much “play” learning for the whole family, and everything is interactive. I also love the National Aquarium and the American Visionary Art Museum by Federal Hill. The Visionary is wonderful - it's all self-taught artists expressing themselves in often unconventional methods. I can easily lose myself in the hallways there. - Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder Photography
What does the nickname “Charm City” mean to you?
Charm implies a depth of purpose. Baltimore is a place that you don't really understand until you visit and stay awhile. This city has grit; local haunts might not look like much from the outside, but come inside and you'll find unexpected flavors, fascinating people and bar stools that immediately feel like home. The city is for those willing to look beneath the surface, and once they do, they become part of the charm it creates. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton
I grew up here, and what I like about it is that Baltimore tends to stick together. It's a true community. - Tim Ellis of T.W. Ellis
Baltimore is full of charm. Each neighborhood has its own vibe - from artsy to trendy, classic to modern. - Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder Photography
What’s the best spot to get a taste of Maryland’s famed blue crab?
We often find ourselves about 45 minutes west of Baltimore for crabs, at Liberty Road Seafood in Frederick, MD. They have all-you-can-eat specials for great prices, and the steamed crabs just keep coming and coming. It's not a fancy place, and lots of locals go there - exactly what you want in a crab house! - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
We’d head over to Bo Brooks to sit outside on the water and enjoy the view while consuming as many crabs as possible. You're going to want to have an Orange Crush at the tiki bar before you leave. If you happen to be visiting family and can convince them to host your crab feast, we get ours to go from Gaffney's in Highlandtown. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton
What is the biggest misconception about Baltimore that you’d like to set straight?
The downtown's reputation as a “bad area.” Baltimore is more than a statistic. It's more than the downtown area; it also includes the county, etc. Throughout the area, people truly do care about their neighbors. - Tim Ellis of T.W. Ellis
Like any big city, there are safe places and not-so-safe places. So much of Baltimore is fun, walkable, and safe, so I always hate to hear that people are “afraid to visit,” because they're missing out on so much the city has to offer! - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
Does the term of endearment “Hon” really have roots in Baltimore?
“Hon” has deep roots in Baltimore - we even have a yearly festival every summer dedicated to the Hon! A Baltimore Hon is a caricature of the working woman in Baltimore in the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. She wore brightly printed clothes, bright cat-eye glasses and her hair in a beehive. - Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder Photography
Yes, it's short for “honey.” If you come to Baltimore and sit on your stoop in neighborhoods with older adults who've made Baltimore what it is, “Hon” will roll off their tongues as a term of endearment as they pass. If you visit in June, you can see the Hons in action at HONfest in Hampden. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton
What’s a pro tip for someone catching a ball game at Camden Yards for the first time?
Definitely visit the museum and take the tour - there’s a lot of history there. It’s situated in the old B&O Railroad warehouse, which is the longest building on the East Coast. Also, check out the small circular plaques on the street outside the stadium that indicate where home runs have landed throughout the ball stadium's history. - Tim Ellis of T.W. Ellis
There are no bad seats! Be sure to come early on giveaway days. You can bring outside food and un-opened, non-alcoholic beverages into the stadium, but we recommend grabbing a Natty Boh (there are craft beers as well) and maple-glazed bacon-on-a-stick at the stadium. Though we've never turned down a hotdog or peanuts from one of the many vendors outside. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton
Where is the best place to get a cold ‘Natty Boh?’
Any local dive bar will do. I recommend Ropewalk Tavern. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
Not sure I have a best place - just make sure they give you the cap along with the bottle! - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
Your corner bar. It's everywhere, that's what makes it great. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton
Since Baltimore is a craft beer hotspot, where do you recommend tasting the best local brew?
Local brew is best served cold at The Brewers Art. They serve a full line of their house-made brew in an eclectic space. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
Frederick, MD (about 45 minutes west of Baltimore) is a suburb with a great craft beer presence. Flying Dog Brewery is my favorite for a fun vibe with tasty craft brew options, including some that are only available on-site! - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
What are the best Baltimore neighborhoods for relocating young professionals?
I hear lots of love for Hampden and Federal Hill from young professionals. - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
I think it depends on your lifestyle. You could live in the dog-friendly neighborhoods like Patterson Park, or the sleepy, almost suburb-like Lauraville neighborhood. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
Canton area in downtown. It has the urban industrial feel. - Tim Ellis of T.W. Ellis
What are the best family-friendly neighborhoods in Baltimore?
I’m a bit biased, but I love the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello area. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
I love Belvedere, Mt. Washington and Charles Village. - Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder Photography
While I do know some families downtown in Baltimore (Hampden and similar neighborhoods), many young families move a little farther out to suburbs like Parkville, Frederick, Reisterstown, Ellicott City and Catonsville. - Liza Hawkins of (a)Musing Foodie
What is the best way to get acquainted with Baltimore’s local art scene?
Station North and any neighborhoods partnering with our local art institution, MICA, are your best bet for catching the local art scene. We host the Maryland Film Festival in the spring, and various art showings and festivals all year long. - Keisha Reed of City Girl Goes Digital
The entire Hampden neighborhood is lovely for the arts, with plenty of restaurants and little art galleries to explore. There are festivals all year long across the city: Artscape happens every summer, HONFest, Hampdenfest, etc. There are also plenty of races, craft fairs, and film and music festivals. Baltimore always has a reason to party. - Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder Photography
When is the best time of year to visit Baltimore, and why?
April through October, so you can catch a game. People in Baltimore are diehard fans for football and baseball, and it's fun to experience. - Tim Ellis of T.W. Ellis
There is no bad time. You'll always find something to do in Baltimore. Even during the ‘snowpocalypse,’ restaurants opened and people gathered. - Steph Moore and Jasmine McNeil of Stay Classy Canton

Insiders Share What Makes Baltimore So Charming
http://ift.tt/2ia8QgA
